Strolling along…

To the sweet sounds of carolers on the steps of the capitol, so many people were down at the capitol last night, so what all the to do was about, well last night was the lighting of the capitol tree, and a down town stroll.  I had missed the last two tree lighting due to weather, and also being ill.  So being the weather was pretty dang perfect, and I was feeling pretty cheery as well, it was the perfect time to go down town and see that tree.

So I invited my mom to come along, and we boarded the bus and headed downtown.  We got there during the middle of the caroling, then it was time to light the tree.  People were buzzing about, and there was a slight chill in the air, nothing that was too much.  It was really nice out, so we gathered around the tree, and the countdown began.  5, 4, 3, 2, 1…  Lights on, and all smiles and cheers.  There was a light show, the tree itself bright with lights, sparkle and glitter.

With that, there was a downtown stroll, and food available, smells, sights, and sounds.  A perfect time, with perfect company.  With all that, here are some photos of the night.  Enjoy.

It does tastes like chicken!

That would be alligator.  Today my mom, sister, nephew, and I went downtown 6th street.  We went to The Pecan Street Festival.  It was their first time going, they loved it.  It was also a first for us all to try alligator on a stick, let me tell you; it was delicious, in fact, it tasted like chicken.  Wow! Chicken.  Now I can say I have experienced gator.  The pecan street fest was good as always.  Until the next one in the spring 2016.  Enjoy!

A Day At The B!

That is the Blanton Museum.  Today was free admission to the Blanton, every Thursday is a free day.  So with it being my day off, thought I’d go see what was new.

All about The Grimm Bros.  The very strange and pretty creepy pics.  Stories we all grew up on.  Here are a couple of photos from today.

A lot can be said about art, what makes it…  Well it is all subjective, art is what you make it.  I, myself think art is many different things, hey If it makes you feel something, then so be it.

Have you visited an art museum lately, if not, I highly recommend it.

A beautiful Austin skyline.  The downtown buildings all lit, the atmosphere delightful.  Thus was fourth of July.  Went to see the fireworks, first time.  It was amazing, and beautiful.  They say about 100,000 people were there that day/night.  I can believe it.  The place was packed, I was one of the 100,000.  Yes!  This is the place I live, and the beauty that I see.

MMMMM… BÀAACON!!!!!

Located between Colorado and Lavaca, this place is amazing.  Born of the food trailer, that used to occupy sixth street, it is now a brick and mortar.  Still the famous silver trailer sits outside its entrance, you can go into the public house and have a drink or two while mulling over the menu of delights.  This day, I chose the Bacon me crazy, so very yummy and filling with thick strips of bacon and cheese.  I was thoroughly happy with my choice.  Did not get any desert, next time though.  I highly recommend this as a place to try.

Where are these track leading?  Winding, twisting, to places unknown?  Are these the tracks of life, yes, I wonder.  Really though, they are just the rail tracks for Austin’s Metro Rail.  Travels all the way to Leander then back to the heart of downtown.  I rode the metro rail yesterday for the first time.  It was alright, nothing much to write home about.  It got me to where I needed to be.  A bit pricey for a day pass at $ 7.00, but it will give you access to the local and premium busses as well, so that is a plus.  Started to follow up closer to getting downtown.  Was comfy, spacious, perks of free WiFi.  Will travel on it again.

Isn’t she lovely…

Indeed it was a night to behold, one night that will be cherished!  The Stevie Wonder concert was amazing!  It started a little rocky for us.  We left at 3:30 to ho check in at the hotel, decided to stay in a hotel after the concert down town close to the frank Erwin.  Took a taxi, half way there I screamed we have to turn around; I had in our rush out, had forgotten the tickets!  So we had to go back to the apartment, get the tickets and head out again to the hotel.
Once we checked in, mom ordered food from mai tai’s Asian.  Then it was concert time, the sucky part was you could not bring cameras with detachable lenses in.  One of the cool things about my camera was to be able to take clear photos at concerts.  Well I was out of luck.  So had to use my camera phone; not the best pictures any way I did not let that get me down, I was in the presence of greatness!
Mom and I had a blast last night.  Stevie rocked the joint.  It was more than I could have expected.

Stay tuned, for the next concert update!
