Moved back in…

To my apartment, me and the little girl.  She sniffed, slinked, and scurried around the place.  Meowing loudly, finally getting familiar with things.  She loves the new cat tree, got a real bargin at pet smart.  What I thought was 99 bucks, was on sale for 69 dollars.  Oh believe me, I spent money last night, between the cat and some food for myself, I almost wept, but it was necessary.

I now really look forward to coming home after a long days or nights work to see my kittie girl.  Now that she is mine and my responsibility.  Anyways, there are great responsibilities as a adult I have to do Monday, one of which, need to update my resume.  I am trying to stick with this job, for at least a year, not sure that will happen, as so much nonsense is going on there.  So that is that.

Last weekend, went to the free day at Zilker, went to the botanical garden.  Invited nephwe and sister who have never been, it was great fun.  Photos below.

Welp, until the next adventure, keep it fun.

Constant cravings…

Well today anyway.  Today the weather is cloudy, rainy, humid and calm.  Yes, it is a pretty quiet Saturday.  You know the kind that makes it feel as though it is not even a Saturday.  So the rents and I took a little trip to Brady, TX.  Just to get some barbecue.  Sure there are tons of bbq places in austin, heck I really do need to get some, and do a comparison.  Anyway,  the ride was great and the bbq sandwhich was delicious.

If you happen to stop in Brady, Texas this place will not dissapoint.

Awesome Finds

Yesterday me, mom, and dad went on a little day trip. To Marble Falls.  Which is a gem of a place, it was beautiful and peaceful.  This place had good fishing spots, something we have been looking for since moving here, now we found it.  It is about nine miles out of Burnett Texas.  There are fishing places in Austin, but this place is gorgeous.  I love day tripping, and always have fun when with my mom and dad that way. But that is a story for another day.  Today is a day of photos from my day trip to Marble Falls.  Enjoy.

Another thing I saw on our way to marble falls, was in Burnett Texas, they have an air museum.  They are also having an air show in September, and I am hoping that I can attend that.  Too Soon to tell, but keeping fingers crossed, since I have a thing about air shows, and have missed them for so many years.  It would be good to get to one.  Another story for another day my friends.

A Day at the Museum

With my mom, this would be her first trip to an Austin museum, so I took her to The Blanton Museum downtown.  She loved it, now she can’t wait to go to more museums.  One of the things I love about having my mom living here in this city, is that there are more things to do with her, more food to eat, more places to see, and more things to do, yes, I love this city.

The Wheels on my mom’s car go round and round.

My mom is learning Austin like a pro.  Today she made it over to the arboretum, and the sam’s club, the other day, we went to the domain and the walks of the arbors, where Sam Moon is, she drove it.  I am proud of her.  usually we take the bus, to different places, there are places here that she knows how to get to by driving, and she pretty much knows her way around round rock and George Town, so Austin, is getting its work out as well.  We go on the bus first, then she drives it, by that time, she sees that we don’t have to go this way or that, and where she can turn off to get to a place faster, so cool.  She loves it here, and getting to know all of Austin has been pretty cool as well.  Since I don’t drive, I take the bus, when needed, but know, if we go out, she drives it, so the bus rides are getting fewer.  Of course there will be times, and situations, where the bus will be a must, but also know that the car is an option as well.

Plus, the time is coming fast, that I will be in training, and won’t have the days off to just go and hang out, so trying to get it all in now, that work/life balance thing is still something I am trying to figure out.  I am ready to get back on the job, don’t get me wrong, being able to sit and watch shows like crazy has its perks.  I just finished season two of Wentworth, this show is pretty dang good, I highly suggest the watch.

Well that time is upon us, you know…  Tax Time, I am still waiting for my w-2, then I am off to get it filed, have to go to another free place this year, but once it is all done, I will be so happy it has been taken care of for another year.  Well, once again, today has been a nice sunny day, yeah, this is me loving this winter season here in Austin.  Until the next time readers, here’s to a great day.

Checked off.

So another thing checked off my list of things to do in Austin.  Oh about 5 or so years ago, when I had another blog, I had made a list of the things I wanted to do, and there were plenty that included my move to Austin, and in that the things that Austin had to provide, one of which was the Trail of Lights tour.  Checked off my list Saturday.  I and a friend went down to Zilker Park, and did the trail of lights, and it was awesome, beyond what my mind had expected.  Some told me not to get too excited, but pshh on them, I was all excited.  One for the fact, that I was attending this, and another because I had never gone on a light tour, so much fun indeed.

The trip started with a bus ride to pick up friend at another bus stop, took my umbrella, because the forecast called for lots of rain, and cold, good to be prepared right.  So stopped at designated stop, got off and met friend, walked over to her car, and in that instant figured out I had left my umbrella onboard the bus that had just pulled off and was on its way.  Doh!  Another umbrella lost, but my coat had a hoodie on it, so I was protected just in case the rains came.

We caught the next metro rapid bus, to downtown where we picked up a shuttle that was going to the trail of lights, in fact this shuttle would be dropping us off right there, no fuss, no wait, no crazy parking, it only cost five dollars per person, round trip, so I paid both our ways, and it was easy, breezy, peasy.  Next stop, Trail of lights.    We got there, got off the shuttle and proceeded to enjoy the lights.  Here are just a few photos I took that night.  It was so much fun, I had a good friend there to enjoy the time with, and got another thing checked off my Austin List.

Sometimes…

My brain wanders to far away places, sometimes…  So this weekend was a good one, went bus hopping yesterday, meaning I took the bus downtown, and then hopped on another bus to see where it went, before getting back to the starting place, I took two buses that day.  One was the number 3, that took me right in front of The Shake Shack, now I definitely know where to get off at.  This is a place that I want to try out soon.  There were other places that I saw on this route as well, that were need to try food places, so this makes me happy to know which bus to take.

Traveling on the bus made me wonder, there are people who live in a place, but only see certain parts of it, not ever wanting to venture out further than the eye can see, or the mind can think, some only stay in certain areas where they feel safe, some of that feeling I know, but I also like to venture out to see what is exactly out there, and what the city that I live in has to offer.

I guess I am an explorer of some sorts.  Not always wandering off, but always thinking.  Austin is the city I live in, and I want to find out all the nooks and crannies it has to offer.
